(al-Baqarah 2:255)
Listen to the recitation and it's meaning HERE, by one of my fav recitors Saad Al-Qhamedi!!!

Below is a simple meaning of this Aayah in English to make it easier for you to understand:

Allahu la ilaha ila huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum.
Allah. There is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the One who takes care of all that exists.

La ta-khu-zhu-hu sinatun wa la nawm.
Nothing can make Him drowsy or make Him sleep

La hu ma fissamawati wa ma fil-ard
His are all things in the heavens and on earth.

Man dhallladhi yashfa 'ou 'indahu ilia bi idhnihi
Who is there can intercede* in His presence unless He allows it?

Ya'lamu ma bayna aydiyhim wa ma khalfahum
He knows what (appears to His creatures as) before or after or behind them,

Wa la yu hiytoona bi shay-imman 'ilmihi Utah bi ma shaa-a
While they will never have any of HisKnowledge unless He wills.

Wa si'a kursiyuhus-samaawaati wal-ard
His 'Kursi' contains the heavens and the earth,

Wa la ya-ooduhu Hifzuhuma
and He doesn't feel tired in guarding and preserving them

Wahuwal- 'aliyul- 'azeem
for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).

Allah's names in this Aayah:
Al-Hayy: The One who lives forever and has always lived.
Al-Qayyum: The One who survives by Himself, and looks after all by His Power.
Al-'Aliy : The Most High
Al-'Azeem : The Supreme, the Great, the Magnificent One.

Here are some of it's BENEFITS, that were narrated from the prophet (pbuh) as saying;

In surat Al-Baqarah there is a verse which is the best of all the verses of the Quran. It is never recited in a house but shaitan leaves: Aayat Al-Kursi.

One who recites Aaytul Kursi every morning will be in the protection, safety of Allah untill the night. and the same goes to the one who recites at night!

Frequent recitation makes one own death easy.

When leaving home, if one recites it once, the almight has one group of angels to come and protect you. If recited twice, 2 group of angels are assined to do this. If recited three times Allah tells the angels not to worry as the Almight himself takes care of him.

If one recites Aayatul Kursi before going to sleep, Allah will send an angel to come and look after you and protect you untill the morning. His home, family and neighbors will remain in safety untill morning.

If one recites this after doing wudhoo, Allah will give him a reward of 40 years of Ibadaat, his position will be raised in the heaven 40 times (levels) and will marry him 40 Horains too. Very Happy

One who recites it after every prayer, their salaat will be accepted, they will remain in the safety of the Almighty and He will protect them.

If one recites it every salaat, the Almighty will make his heart a thankfull one (shakireen), will give him a reward of the prophets, and his deed will be like those of the truthfull (Saddiqeen) and nothing except death will stop him from going into heavens.

Ali ibn abu Talib (RAA) narrates, " I cannot unerstand how a person, who is a muslim, and owner of reson (intellect) can spend the night without reading Aayatul Kursi. If you knew the benifit of it, then you will never discard it under any condition."

It is reported that once Umar (RAA) confronted a jinn and overcame him in compat, upon this the jinn pleaded "Let me go, and I will teach you something through which you can gain protection from us" Umar (RAA) let him go and asked the jinn about this. The jinn replied, "You people can gain protection from us through Aayatul Kursi."

P.s..Dear brothers and sisters, i urge each and everyone of you to put an effort to memorise this beautiful/powerfull AAYAH and it's full meaning. That's if you can and have the time Insha-Allah.

Wabillahi Towfiiq...

Jazakhallah Kheir for posting Assad.
It is a beautiful verse and beneficial to the person who recites it.Personally, I know I have been protected in many ways by that beautiful verse, Alhamdullilah as it was Allah's wish. It should me on every beleiver's and child's tongue. But we should always remember the full recitation of the Quraan should not be neglected.

I have not listened to the hereafter collection Brimo, but you are right Sheikh Awlaki is a brilliant storyteller I have listened to so many lectures and I feel like I am with the Prophet (saw) and the companions when he tells their stories.

If you haven’t listened to Salman Al Farsis story by the Sheikh I would recommend it you can get it on youtube

Salaam

Salaams

Salman Al-Farsis story is soooo amazing. SubxanAllah. I can't remember wether it was Anwar Alkawi' or Yasir Qadhi(maybe the later) that I listen from. He was so determine to find the true Religion, Ma'sha Allah. An Inispiring story I have to admit. May Allah swt. bless those companions of the Prophet s.c.w.s. Ameen

Anwar's set of Umar Bin Khattab is wonderful. You will be amazed and hear such a soft side of Umar Bin Khattab that we don't usually think of him r.c. Even thought he r.c was like a taught guy. You'will have a few moment of laughter as well....Anwars' a great story teller...Folks grap it next time you see it in Islamic stores.
